Our touring-style bike tours focus on comfort, an upright riding position and non-technical routes, with touring bikes, e-bikes or mountain bikes selected to best suit each journey.

For many cyclists, a great bike tour isn’t about speed, performance or technical riding. It’s about being comfortable on the bike, enjoying the landscape and having the freedom to stop whenever something catches your attention.
That’s the idea behind our touring-style bike tours in Portugal.
These journeys favour comfortable riding positions, accessible terrain and non-technical routes, allowing you to concentrate on the places you’re travelling through rather than the performance of the ride itself.
When guests ask us for a touring bike, what they are often really asking for is a particular style of cycling.
They want to sit more upright. They want a comfortable bike for several consecutive days. They don’t want a road-bike riding position, and they aren’t interested in technical mountain biking.
If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
However, a traditional touring bike isn’t necessarily the best bike for every route in Portugal. Some journeys include gravel tracks, cobbled sections or rougher surfaces where a mountain bike can provide greater comfort and stability. On hillier routes, an e-bike may provide a much more enjoyable experience.
That’s why at Live Love Ride we look at the rider and the journey first, and the bike second.
All three can provide the comfortable, non-technical riding experience many touring cyclists are looking for.
A touring bike is a great option for easier journeys dominated by paved roads and smoother surfaces. Its upright position makes it comfortable for relaxed days of exploring.
A mountain bike can sometimes be the better choice when a touring-style journey includes gravel tracks, cobblestones or uneven surfaces. We use mountain bikes for their comfort and stability, not because the route involves aggressive or technical MTB trails.
An e-bike is often our recommendation for guests who want the upright comfort of a touring bike with assistance on hills and longer days. It allows you to maintain the relaxed character of the journey while making Portugal’s rolling terrain considerably easier to enjoy.

You don’t need advanced cycling skills to enjoy this style of journey.
Our touring-style routes are designed around exploration rather than technical riding. Depending on the destination, you may encounter quiet roads, cycle paths, gravel tracks, cobbled streets and easy off-road sections, but technical singletrack, jumps, drops and aggressive descents are not what these journeys are about.
The exact terrain varies from tour to tour, which is also why our team can recommend the most appropriate bike for the journey you choose.
The Alentejo is perhaps the classic destination for relaxed cycling in Portugal. Quiet roads roll between vineyards, cork oak forests, whitewashed villages and historic towns, with plenty of opportunities to stop and experience the food, wine and culture of the region.
With shorter daily distances available on some of our journeys, beautiful coastal landscapes and quiet roads through the countryside, the Algarve is an excellent choice for cyclists looking for a more relaxed experience.
Northern Portugal offers green landscapes, rivers, historic villages and a slower pace of travel. Our bike tours in Minho are particularly suited to riders who want to experience Portugal from the saddle without making cycling performance the focus of the holiday.
The Camino offers a wonderful journey rather than simply a collection of rides. Because the route combines paved roads, cobblestones, rural tracks and other changing surfaces, we may recommend a mountain bike or e-bike rather than a traditional touring bike for greater comfort and confidence.
At Live Love Ride, we don’t believe in putting every guest on the same type of bicycle.
We operate our own fleet of premium bikes and recommend the option that best matches your preferred riding position, experience, fitness and the terrain of your chosen tour.
If you prefer an upright position, we’ll take that into account. If you want electric assistance, we can recommend one of our premium Specialized e-bikes. And if your route includes rougher surfaces, we may suggest a mountain bike even though your journey remains entirely non-technical.
Before your tour begins, our team provides a professional bike fitting so you’re comfortable and properly set up for the days ahead.
If your priorities are comfort, an upright riding position and non-technical cycling, start by choosing the journey you want to experience.
Then let us help you select the right bike.
For some routes that will be a touring bike. For others, you may be more comfortable on an e-bike or mountain bike while enjoying exactly the same relaxed style of cycling holiday.
