Our premium Specialized mountain bikes offer comfort, stability and confidence across quiet roads, gravel tracks and easy off-road sections, on cycling journeys designed for exploration rather than technical trail riding.

A mountain bike is one of the most versatile ways to experience Portugal, giving you the freedom to combine quiet paved roads with gravel tracks, forest paths, cobbled sections and easy off-road terrain.
Our mountain bike tours are cycling journeys rather than technical MTB adventures. We choose mountain bikes for their comfort, stability and versatility across changing surfaces, allowing us to design routes that explore beyond the asphalt without requiring advanced mountain biking skills.
If you’re imagining enduro trails, technical singletrack or aggressive descents, that’s not what these journeys are about.
Our mountain bike tours in Portugal are not enduro or all-mountain tours, and technical trail riding is not the focus. You won’t spend your days tackling jumps, drops, rock gardens or steep technical descents.
Instead, we favour enjoyable and accessible mixed terrain: quiet country roads, gravel and dirt tracks, forest paths, coastal routes and occasional rougher sections where the stability and wider tyres of a mountain bike provide additional confidence.
Some journeys and individual sections can naturally be more demanding than others, but you don’t need to be an experienced mountain biker to enjoy this style of riding.
The objective is simple: use the capability of a mountain bike to explore more of Portugal, not to seek out the most technical terrain.

A mountain bike is a great choice if you value comfort, stability and versatility more than outright speed.
The wider tyres provide additional grip and confidence on gravel, cobblestones and uneven surfaces, while the more upright riding position can be particularly comfortable over several consecutive days.
This versatility also gives our route designers more freedom. Instead of restricting a journey entirely to paved roads, we can use quiet tracks and paths where they provide a more beautiful, peaceful or interesting way to experience the landscape.
A bike tour in the Portuguese Camino de Santiago is particularly well suited to mountain bikes. The journey naturally combines paved roads, cobbled streets, rural tracks and forest paths as you travel north towards Santiago de Compostela.
A mountain bike provides the comfort and stability to handle those changing surfaces while allowing you to experience more of the character of the historic Camino.
Portugal’s southwest offers a wonderful combination of quiet countryside, coastal landscapes, natural parks and unpaved tracks.
On a bike tour in the Portuguese Southwest Coast, a mountain bike allows our routes to move naturally between rural roads and easier off-road sections, opening up quieter ways to explore the Alentejo and Algarve without turning the journey into a technical mountain biking tour.
At Live Love Ride, we believe the quality of your bike is an essential part of the experience.
That’s why we operate our own fleet of Specialized mountain bikes, professionally maintained and prepared by our team for every journey.
Their combination of comfort, stability, capable handling and wider tyres makes them particularly well suited to Portugal’s mixture of paved roads, gravel tracks, cobbled sections and easier off-road terrain.
Before your journey begins, our team provides a professional bike fitting and makes sure you’re comfortable with your bike and ready for the days ahead.

The Rockhopper Comp’s relaxed trail geometry provides confidence and control when exploring forest trails and natural park routes.
Both bikes give you the freedom to explore mixed terrain, but they offer quite different riding experiences.
A gravel bike is generally lighter and faster on paved roads and smoother gravel, with a sportier, road-style riding position. A mountain bike offers wider tyres, greater stability and a more upright position, making it particularly appealing if comfort and confidence on uneven surfaces are more important to you than speed.
Explore our gravel bike tours in Portugal if you prefer a faster, more performance-oriented approach to mixed-terrain riding.
Choose a mountain bike if you want a comfortable and versatile bike that gives you confidence when the route leaves the asphalt, without looking for a technical MTB experience.
If you prefer predominantly paved roads, a faster road-style riding position, electric assistance or a traditional touring setup, another bike from our fleet may suit you better.
